r_mate_e... Renaissance Man

Yes, you heard me right, I am a Renaissance Man. Today, I insulated a large addition to my home, relieved my wife's insomnia, built my daughter a train out of her Thomas the train track sets that spanned the entire living room, fed the entire family, practiced my guitar, and cleaned my "assault shotgun."

And I do not want to hear any guff because the cure for insomnia came from a store's med section in the form of Tylenol PM, or because the food came from a local eatery.. I am sure if Leonardo DaVinci had access to easy over the counter drugs and food, he'd have done the same thing...

Which brings me to another funny thing that happened while retrieving said Tylenol PM. While sanding in the pain reliever isle looking for it, an obviously very recently married couple came in. The very young female was leading the way, and had a very stern look about her. The male, dragging in tow, had a look about him like that of a beat down dog.

After waiting on the slower young man, toe tapping, the young woman pointed to the product that she wanted, and obligingly, the young man reached for it.. It was.. Pamparin.

As the couple walked back past me toward the cash registers, the young man tossed a glance my way. I returned it with a knowing nod of the head.

Welcome to manhood son...

R.I.P. President Ford

I just wanted to add my 2 cents on the passing of President Ford.

My avorite Ford Quote: "We declared our independence 200 years ago, and we are not about to lose it now to paper shufflers and computers," he said while discussing his views of regulatory agencies effect on the economy.

But perhaps his most famous act was the pardoning of Richard Nixon. This single act was the most selfless act I know of in an American President. If you research Ford, most agree that he knew that this pardon would cost him the upcoming election, but he did it anyway because he felt it was the right thing to do for the nation to begin to heal.

Hell, even the most hardened Dumbocrats, who used the pardon for political gain, later said it was the right thing to do. (Sound Familiar?) Think any of today's politicians would be that selfless today??

That act, although the right thing to do, is also one of the most disastrous. Since it gave Dumbocrats ammo against Ford, he lost, and we got jimmy f-ing carter.

Jimmah, is in the conversation as the worst acting President. But where he has exceeded all others, is his time after his Presidency. jimmy f-ing carter is by far the worst former President in the history of the free world. There is no one even on the radar screen as a second.

Enough of that.

Rest in peace Sir. You have earned it. We won't likely see a selfless person such as yourself on the national stage again. We could really use one, but alas, with 50+percent of the electorate being so feeble minded that they let the daily newscasts effect their sentiment, that will never happen.

After Christmas Thoughts

Well, another Christmas has come and gone, and its back to the grind after a little time off. Looking back over the Holiday, doesn't it always seem that the best gifts do not come in boxes??

My oldest daughter, who was down for the holidays, gave me that one this year. I don't recall exactly what we were talking about, but her, my wife, and I were sitting there and out of the blue, she said that she wanted a revolver for her graduation in May. She thought she might need one for protection at some point, and wanted to be very familiar with it if that time came. She also thought that they were "cool" looking.

I've carried her with me to the range every time she's been here, and the opportunity arose. And have tried to show her the correct and responsible way to handle firearms. We've also discussed that firearms are a tool, and that their maintenance and handling can save lives, or take them.

I never really knew what she thought about guns until now. Guess i did a little something right..

Thursday Range Bag III

In last Thursday’s Range Bag, I closed the post with the statement that I was going to make the case for the Glock being the best choice for concealed carry self defense.

To add to that, I say the Glock in its mid and full size .40 SW incarnations is the king.

I am not a 1911 or .45 hater. Both are great IMHO, But neither measure up to the Glock. The 1911 is prettier, a better “date” gun or “Sunday go to meetin” gun, but for reliability, there is no comparison.

Here are the bullet points:

  1. The Glock is vastly more reliable

  1. A full set of replacement parts is about 60.00 (minus barrel)

  1. You don’t need a lot of gunsmithing experience to work on one

  1. Making the pistol multi-caliber (9mm or .357SIG) you drop in an 80.00 dollar barrel

  1. You can treat it like shit, and it keeps shooting, and shooting, and shooting.

  1. .40 SW has superior ballistics, will penetrate deeper, and expand more reliably

Here are the arguments.

  1. I have had a 1911 on several occasions. Once a VERY expensive version by a big name 1911 master armorer. If it was ever windy, and there was grit in the air, the 1911’s would become jam masters almost immediately. I have two Glock 22 first generation pistols. The one I carry, I keep as clean as whistle, the other I have NEVER CLEANED in over 5 years of shooting. I have never had 1 failure to fire in either of them. The clean one is more accurate of course, but other than that, there isn’t much difference in them.

  1. Self explanatory

  1. Also self explanatory, but I can detail strip a Glock, replace any defective part, and have it back together in less that 4 minutes. I have 3 complete parts kits, and I carry one with me everywhere I go.

  1. I have a fully supported 9mm drop in barrel. I figure that if TS ever HTF, and I can’t get to my .40 stash, I can find someone with 9mm and be back in business. It takes about 15 seconds to change the barrel.

  1. See number 1. Or better yet do a Google search about Glock torture test and see for yourself.

  1. I’ve witnessed it. The .40 in 185 grain and 165 grain both penetrate farther than a 230 grain .45. ¾ of an inch, and 1 inch respectively. Bullet upset was noticeably more pronounced in the .40 as well.

So there is my argument. The Glock is ugly, unless you find simplicity and black plastic pretty, but it is virtually unstoppable. Even if it does eventually break, you can be back in business in about 4 minutes, and for less that you spend on a 20 ounce coke in most cases.

In closing, it all about reliability and Glock has no equal, period.

In next Thursdays Range Bag, I’ll introduce you to what I feel is the ultimate home defense weapon…

Awesome Christmas Song

Get the over to earl and CL's place and read the lyrics to an awesome CHRISTMAS song.

It is WELL worth the time!!

Not bad for a couple of rednecks..

Science Wendsday

If you have ever looked over at my links, you notice a group of science links. So if you have put 2 and 2 together, you have figured out that I am a Science Buff. I think it emanates from my love of ripping things apart to see how they work..

One of my favorite myths in science is that of the Million Dollar pen.. It is a classic tale of bureaucratic buffoonery, with a science twist.

The story goes that back in the 60's, NASA realized that gravity fed ball point pens would not function correctly in zero-gravity space. So they went about spending a million dollars to develop an ink pen that would write in zero gravity.

Meanwhile, our counterparts over in Russia had the same problem. Their solution, as the myth goes, was to hand their cosmonauts a pencil...

As with most myths, this one is not true, but it is easy to believe because..well..because we're talking about the government and bureaucrats.

If you think about it for a minute, you can see the holes in the myth. No space agency would advocate the use of a pencil in their capsules for several reasons:

  • Not 100% reliable. Need sharpened. All garbage (shavings) must be stowed, lest it becomes projectiles when you start slowing down when landing..

  • Wood is a potential fire hazzard.

It is kinda sad that one of our greatest triumphs, one that put America on the map as a super power, has stories floaing around like this. But alas, it rings too true to be dismissed.

Here is a story about it in todays Scientific America.

Jimmy Carter’s New Book

Has there ever been a pic that says "Coward" more that this one ---------->

Jimmeh Cattah is out this week promoting his new book about the Middle East.

In his own words, Jimmeh Cattah says he wrote the book to foster a debate in America about the Middle-Easter Conflict.

He then refuses to debate Alan Dershowitz, who disagrees with him on the topic, because according to Carter, Dershowitz doesn’t know anything about the subject..

Bwaahahahahaha.

What he really meant was that he didn’t want to be BEATEN OVER THE HEAD WITH A CLUEBAT for the whole world to see.

Do you remember the movie “Twins” with Gov. Arnold and Danny DeVito?? There was a part in it where they met the lead scientist in the genetic study that created them. In that part, the scientist tells Danny DeVito that he was the genetic garbage left over from the experiment and that he was pretty much a waste of skin.

What has this got to do anything you may ask??

If you took DNA from George Washington, Abe Lincoln, Harry Truman, Ronald Reagan, to make a “Super President”, Jimmy Carter would fit the bill as the genetic garbage that was left over.

Will there ever be a sorrier excuse for an American President than Jimmy Freaking Carter? I shudder at the thought..

If you click the link above, a quote in the story will tell you all there is to know about Jimmy Carter’s intentions..

"There is no debate in America about anything that would be critical of Israel," Carter said.

Shouldn’t the debate form the opinion instead of the opinion forming the debate there Jimmeh?? Why should the debate start out being critical of Israel?? Because you say it should??

I remember a quote from Jimmy back in 2004, before the Democratic convention I think it was, and in it he said “I don’t think that Jesus Christ would agree with abortion.” Well, I agree with you there Jimmy, but since your worried about what Jesus thinks about abortion, what do you think He thinks about you sticking it to his chosen people every chance you get?

Sorry, this was supposed to be a Monday Humor post, I guess its not that funny after all.

Wuss of the Week

This weeks Wuss of the Week is actually Wusses of the Week. So, without further ado, this weeks winner is...

The Iraq Study Group

Has there ever be a bigger pack of wussies brought together to discuss our country at war? I am not aware of it if there were. Although I will admit that there is probably a bigger pack of wussies gathering every night in San Francisco discussing the war .

I also find it odd that one of the BIPARTISAN members of that blue ribbon panel gave the Democratic response to the report. I guess it's only bipartisan if you agree with the wussocrats.

Dukies cleared by DNA, but the case still rolls along?

What in the name of God is it going to take for the authorities to drop these charges?? An admission from the trollop herself??

Her friends have said that she is lying. The girl that was with her said she is lying. The DA has been proven to have lied on several occasions, and withheld evidence that clears the boys in question.. He even bald faced lied today in court, and the stupid freaking judge doesn't do anything. And now, DNA evidence said that she had sex with SEVERAL different men who deposited semen, but not a single DNA molecule was from the three Duke lacrosse boys. If they had unprotected ejaculatory sex with this man hole, wouldn't there be at least a drop somewhere. Since she had several other earlier deposits hanging in there, that answer is yes..

I swear, the way the court system is today, if they had really raped a 5 year old, they'd already be out on good behavior already.

Anyone want to bet that DA Nifong is a Democrat?

I thought not.

How do you train??

I think it is the responsibility of every CCW license holder to be proficient with their firearm of choice. As such, I go to the range as often as the situation allows to do just that.

As part of that proficiency, I read A LOT about training methods and the results of real world force on force encounters.

Recently, I have read a lot about a quick move laterally being the best tack to take, should you find yourself in a force on force situation. In most articles and books I have read, that a quick 4-6 foot move right or left, out of the line of fire, will make a BG miss over 75% of the time on his first shot. Professionals simulating force on force have stated that this movement was the hardest to overcome when encountered.

So, I have adapted my training to this thinking. I now practice drawing while simultaneously moving a quick “hop” to the right or left, firing off a quick double-tap, move laterally again, a second double-tap, then a final move to cover with a final Mozambique (double-tap center mass – Head shot)

I have to tell you that it is a challenge to keep all 7 shots minute of torso when moving in this fashion. I used to set up scenarios like a pistol competition, moving from station to station while firing. I got pretty damn good at it too. But in hindsight now, I don’t think it would help me a whole lot if I ever encountered a scum bag threatening me and mine. The main objective is to keep ourselves and more importantly, our loved ones alive. I really believe a “move-shoot-move” action will maximize that goal, and would recommend that you look into it too, if your serious about personal and family protection..

Stay tuned for next Thursdays "range bag" installment, when I will convince you that a Glock is the best choice for self defense and concealed carry.

Viral Music

Over at Jimmy B's Joint a post about the cure for a song getting stuck in our head has ended up getting a tune stuck in mine.. The song, I regret to confess, is one that was mentioned in the post, ABBA's Dancing Queen..

Of all the donkey sucking songs to get stuck on an endless loop inside your head, this has got to be one of he worst.

His prescribed cure, Wrathchild (by Iron Maiden) with original singer Paul Dianno, while kicking a prestigious amount of ass, is helpless to stop it in this case. I've tried listening to Bach, Randy Travis, and Nashville Pussy, to name a few, but to no avail...

Damn, I need a mind enema!!!

Don't let the door hit you in the ass Kofi

The most corrupt sec general in the history of the u.n. chastises the U.S. in his farewell speech and op-ed in the Washington Post..

I'd be pretty p.o.'ed, except that Kofi being Kofi, that is like paris hilton chastising a nun for missing prayer. He's such a joke that its not worth the effort to get mad...

This self absorbed piece of human flotsam is definitely a poster boy for free prophylactics for all African women. I guarantee you that the best part of the DNA infusion his mother got that made him, ended up on a grass mat somewhere in some godforsaken hell hole. You can take that to the bank!!

Here are just a few of the bigger scandals that were mere annoyances the joke of the century:

1. Genocide in Darfur

2. Oil for food scandal to the tune of tens of billions of dollars

3. UN solders raping and pimping children at virtually every peace mission it attempted under Kofi's leadership...

4. 10 fold increase in African Aids cases

As I am sure you know, we could go on and on about the cesspool that is Kofi's UN, but again who really gives a rip..

Robert Gates looks to be a walking clusterfuck as new SecDef.

I haven’t seen anything about this utterance by Gates in his Conformation hearing. Gates was explaining why Iran might be looking to acquire nuclear weapons.

"They are surrounded by powers with nuclear weapons: Pakistan to their east, the Russians to the north, the Israelis to the west and us in the Persian Gulf."

The fact that their government wants to wipe Isreal off the map in one fell swoop is inconsequential I guess..

With this pussy in the big chair at the Pentagon, Iran and North Korea should be breathing a little easier..

With Gates’ nomination, it looks to me like Bush is trying to get the whole country to revile him. Libtards will never like him, no matter what he does, and folks like me are looking at him in a new light as well.

That would be the light of truth..

The day of infamy.. Then and Now

LATE TUESDAY ESSAY

On the solemn anniversary on the 2nd largest attack on our country, I want to take a look at what has happened to us in the 60+ years since. There is a parallel, and one we need to get past if we are to win this fight against our most grievous enemy.

Have you ever thought of why Japan is now our ally??

Sure, we rebuilt a lot of their destroyed infrastructure, and sent in a lot of money to help out with other things, but do you think that is the main reason??

If you do, you are wrong. I’ll agree that our cordial treatment of the Japanese after their surrender, paved the way for them to become an ally. But it was our willingness to completely destroy them that drove the car..

Don’t believe it? Let’s look at the other “major wars” we’ve fought since then, and how those enemy’s view and treat us now..

  • Korea - Learned that America no longer had the stomach to do what was necessary to achieve victory.

  • Vietnam - Same as above, plus learned that the American liberal movement, and a willing liberal press, could be manipulated into effecting sentiment. This ultimate propaganda tool could help a vastly overpowered force effectively neuter their more powerful enemy by making their leaders fight a more “humane and nuanced” war to try to win back support for the conflict at home.. When that doesn’t pacify the libtards, we leave. The slaughter of millions of one time allies in the aftermath proves to the world that while the US military is formidable, the country as a whole is a paper tiger.

  • Iraq I - after completely whipping the 4th largest military force on the planet, in record time, we again show the world that we do not have the intestinal fortitude to finish the job. As such, we leave Sadam in power, and sell our Kurd allies up the river for their trouble. Again, we leave valuable friends in the line of fire when we leave, and untold scores of people die as a result of our leader’s cowardice. (Bush I, answer your phone)

  • Afghanistan and Iraq II - In record time again, the mighty US Armed Forces kick an enemy’s ass only to be pulled back before overwhelming victory could be achieved. This time it only took the press a week or so before they started undermining our efforts. So now we sit here 4 years in. We have made it better for the average Iraqi, but the terrorist have learned the real truth, that our leaders don’t have the guts to obliterate them. There was a brief flicker that we did have that resolve, when the image of the towers collapsing was still fresh in our collective mind. But today, fresh on the heels of capitulating Dems being thrust into power a few weeks ago, that flicker of hope was extinguished like a candle in a hurricane.

So there it is in a small little nut-shell. Our reluctance to completely destroy an enemy has convinced every two bit dictator on the planet that they can say or do anything to the US and its allies, and pretty much get away with it. Even if we take them out of power, they know that with the liberal media harping that we are the scourge of the Earth for defending ourselves, their movement will survive, nay, be invigorated, by our lack of resolve.

Russian paper not as far left as the NYT

As a side, I bet you that none of the reporters on that staff post state secrets to make their leader look bad. If they do, they wake up wearing cement slippers, or get a radioactive suppository inserted with extreme prejudice!!!

Don’t think a no knock raid could happen to you???

With this topic being a touchy subject with me already, last night I thought about my own situation, and examined how every day events could be misread by the cops if they didn’t perform their due diligence, with which it is becoming obvious that they do not in A LOT of cases..

Not too long ago, I had an addition to my home built, and in this process, I had several large deposits go into my normal checking account. I was advised by my loan officer that it would be cheaper on me to advance money off of 0% interest credit cards, and then come back when the addition was through, and they’d provide the final financing.

Now with the feds automatically tipped off at any deposit you make over 1500.00 that is out of your normal deposit schedule, this sent up a red flag for a perfectly innocent situation. (This part is fact, not speculation)

Let’s say that the local fed outfit calls my local boys in blue, and asks them to look into my comings and goings. They do so by interviewing the nosy little old lady across the street. (She really exist BTW) She tells them there are people coming and going at all hours of the night..

Being as she beds down at 8:30 or so every night, what was friends helping me out with labor until about 9:00 pm several nights, now looks like a swinging drug house to the boys..

So, backed up by this “extensive”, “irrefutable” information (/sarcasm), they secure a search warrant from the local DA who is hard up to show that he/she is tough on drugs. They have to win re-election in a year or so don’t they???? And with hardly anything “big” ever happening around these parts, the chances to prove that illegal drug hatred are slim to none.

So, with circumstantial information at best, the boys now have a warrant to enter my home. I won’t speculate on what would happen when that occurred, I just wanted to impress upon you that it can wrongly happen to you and me just as easily as it has happened to hundreds of family’s and individuals all across this country.

And BTW, I hate drugs, and I think that if you use them you’re a dumbass. No ifs, ands, or buts. I also support my local police department through anonymous charity every year. I respect the job most of them do. But that would have no effect on the above scenario. I say this to impress that I am no cop hater. I have family that wears blue for chrissake. But this has to stop. There is no need for it. It jeopardizes innocent citizens and cops alike, and only serves to undermine any trust we have in the police.

Stench Rising Higher in Atlanta No-Knock Raid

If you weren't disgusted and pissed off enough in the initial reporting of the gunned down granny, just as most everyone thought, the story just got a WHOLE LOT WORSE!!!

Just so it is clear to everyone: Testosterone fueled assholes + little or no Due Diligence + shaky word of a crack head who has reason to give the cops what they want + no oversight or repercussions = YOUR FUCKED if these guys no-knock your house..

Any Questions???

If you are not calling your congresshack every day about this outrageous abuse of power and rights violation, don't whine to me when you either wake up dead one morning, or find out that your new roommate, Guido of the Giant Schlong, has taken an unhealthy interest in your cute little hind quarters..

UPDATE - I saw that Instapundit had linked to the same story earlier than this post. So here is a H/T so I don't look like a thief or a plagiarist.

N.Y. Times Loses Supreme Court Bid to Shield Records From U.S.

In a story that is failing to get alot of screen time for the major media outlets, The NY Times (Traders Inc. if you ask me) lost their bid to shield their phone records from Justice Department officials.

The justices today turned away the New York Times Co.'s bid for an emergency order in the case, which stems from a 2001 investigation into two Islamic charities. Patrick Fitzgerald, the U.S. attorney in Chicago, is using a grand jury to investigate who in the government leaked information to the Times about planned raids on the charities' offices.

But it is your right to know they whine..

They also think it is your right to have your body riddled by shrapnel following an attack. Or to have your noggin removed from its perch on your shoulders by a sharp heavily swung blade. You also have the right to have your lungs exploded by the pressure of an explosive device, while sitting on a bus or subway train..

What you do not have the right to expect, is for the countries supposed "Newspaper of Record" to have any morals when deciding to publish things that will obviously put lives in danger. We also apparently don't have the right to question them on the lawfulness of their decisions..

Lastly, if still have a subscription to this piece of shit paper, and judging from the circ numbers, alot of you don't, but if you do, my friend, you are a freaking moron!!!

92 year old Pistol Packing Mama Shot Dead

I am sure you have heard about this, its all over the blogosphere. a 92 year old granny was shot dead, by the cops running a no knock warrant in Atlanta GA..

I have LEO family and friends, and they have a job I wouldn't do for the money, but this shit has got to stop..

A 92 year old Granny guys?? What the fuck??

I back cops in almost any situation, but this is insanity.. What is wrong with a little police work like surveillance, and then a take down when the time is right.. Do you really have to "no knock" your way into a little ol grannies house???

The only good thing in this is that she defended herself against this unconstitutional violation of her civil rights. She poped all three testosterone pumping thugs that she saw threatening her.. All while under extreme duress. You go Granny!!!

Then they killed her.

With bad guys doing the exact same thing daily somewhere in the country, what are we civvies supposed to do??? Lie down and cower and hope that it is over zealous cops invading our house???

I implore every person that might read this to post about it and to also urge others to call their congressperson and demand something be done.. The time is ripe for this type of tactic to be rendered illegal..

The life you save may very well be your own...

Herman Munster..er..Janet Reno files motion

Former Attorney General Janet Reno and seven other former Justice Department officials filed court papers Monday arguing that the Bush administration is setting a dangerous precedent by trying a suspected terrorist outside the court system.

Has there ever been a less attractive person??? I mean she makes Rosanne Barr look like a freaking playboy bunny!

Women, instead of saying you have a headache for the fourth night in a row, tape a picture of Reno to the headboard and I can guarantee you that shrinkage will occur.

Back to my point...

Besides being the most hideous looking human (not just female) on the face of the Earth, Janet freakin Reno has a gigantic sack of balls to even think of lecturing ANYONE on rights violations.

Wasn't it her decision to flush the branch dividians out in Waco, Texas??? Seems to me she tried and convicted them outside the court system.. I guess that incendary device was just a mistake and not on purpose huh??

Also Reno, ever heard of Ruby Ridge??

I thought so...

French Socialist Wins Party Nod

Scanning through the AP site today, I read this story.

Frenchwoman May Be First to Lead France

Now the story is neither here nor there to me. I couldn't care less if France fell off the face of the planet. But a sentence inside the story made me spew Diet Coke all over my monitor..

After more than a decade under Conservative President Jacques Chirac, France is craving change, especially after riots by poor teenagers last fall and violent protests by university students in the spring.

I never thought I'd see the words Conservative and Jacques Chirac in the same sentence.

If that piece of human excrement is a conservative, I'm a.... Hell, I can't even think of anything with a wide enough variance that would compare to it..

If that dumb ass at the AP can put those two words in the same sentence, he or she is beyond help...

As a side note, if this wench is further left that Cake-boy Chirac, she must make Stalin look like Jerry Falwell...

Freaking Libtards.

WRONG AGAIN LIBTARD!!!!

The other day, I forget exactly where, I read (or heard??) a discussion about the press and their liberal slant, and the effects it is having on the war in Iraq, and the War on Terror.

The liberal pundit in this discussion said something in response to the statement. The press is making our troops, and us, less safe. The idea that democrats or the press has any effect on the enemy is foolhardy at best, and pure outright lies at the worst.. “You can not prove a single death resulted in the reports from the main stream media,” was the theme of his (or her) entire argument…

WRONG AGAIN LIBTARD!!!!

A report, innocuously released by the Brookings Institute, proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the American Press has cost American Soldiers heir lives in Iraq.

The released report shows casualty rates among or brave service personnel…

This chart will open the eyes of anyone willing to see, is right here in black and white…

The story of Abu Ghraib broke in Late January on CNN. By mid March, the casualties were on a major up swing, and by mid April, as the story reached its crescendo, we recorded the 2nd highest casualty count of the conflict so far..

This current month, we may actually be back to the lower casualty totals we had before the Abu Ghraib story broke… So 1 year and nine months later, we are finally depleting the numbers of terrorist that joined the Iraqi resistance in anger over the Abu Ghraib story.

So there is your weekly Cluebat, libtard.. Let’s see if even one of you is stupid enough to try and argue this fact…

Was the persons involved deserving of reprimand?? Definitely. But more for their being dumb enough to film and photograph their exploits.

Is there a right to free flowing information? In some cases, yes. But in this case, NO..

Was the right for you to know this story worth the ten fold increase in casualties that it brought??? HELL NO…

So the next time a liberal or a media sympathizer tries to run the tired line I quote above, feel free to use this chart/Cluebat to beat said libtard to a smithereens..

Tuesday Essay

Now and Then

UPDATE: I originally posted this on 10-31-06, before the elections. I am re-posting it now to give a frame of reference to post I will be writing later this week

As I sat and watched my daughter playing yesterday, my thoughts drifted through the myriad of subjects that are the canvas of my mind. Thoughts of elections, politics, and the dangers the world now faces, flickered across my minds eye like so many coming attractions.

Like any parent, I tried to envision what the world looks like to her now, and what it will look like to her in her adult life. Without a frame of reference, it is hard to do.

So I thought back to my own childhood…

By grace, my memories of that time are of love, family, and rough and tumble play. I remember a feeling of security, pride, wonder, and competition.

The latter started me down a new thought track.

I saw images of the late spring, mile and a half walks from elementary school to the ball field, to practice little league baseball. I remember the camaraderie with my teammates. And as is always the case when these images cross my mind, I remember one particular incident, which at the time, was an embarrassment to me. I now remember it with a sense of pride, and understand it to be a defining moment in my life…

The regular drill at our practice was for the coaches to hit balls to us, as we fielded our positions. Then after everyone had gotten a few chances, one at a time, we'd leave our positions to go bat. This was called bat arounds. This particular year, (4th grade) I was the pitcher, and as the cycle went, I was second to last to bat. The catcher was last. So after I took my swings, and sent several of the boys to the fence to retrieve my “whoppers”, it was the catchers turn. This meant that I had to take his place as catcher.

I hated that position..

At that time, the little league rules were that only the catcher had to wear a cup. Since I was a pitcher, and hated the things (they were mandatory in football, so I had worn one) I never wore one playing baseball. As such, a couple of times earlier in that season, during the same “bat arounds,” I had taken foul balls to the family jewels. Thus proving Newton’s theorem that a rawhide covered, rock-hard sphere turns into a testicle seeking projectile if said testicles are not protected by a thin wall if plastic..

Ladies, if child birth hurts worse that that, I have extreme empathy..

Anyway, after I donned the leg guards and chest protector, and sheepishly took my place behind home plate. Fearing for my reproductive future, I failed to pay close attention to where the batter had taken residence in the batters box. Well, to make a long thought short, I got whacked with a bat right in the funny bone area, behind the elbow on my left arm..

That is not the embarrassing part… that came later that week.

After an exam, I was declared o.k., but the doctor said that I had to rest the arm for 1 week, which in kid time is 237 years. I was bummed out, but during that week, I still walked to the field everyday after school and watched the practices. It sucked not being out there, but at least I was there.. To not be there was to not put 100% into it. And that was not acceptable to me.

During the 4th and last of these watched practices, the team was really stinking it up, and putting forth very minimal effort. After we had ran a few laps for punishment, and it had failed to cause a stir, the coach yelled at the top of his lungs for everyone, parents and players, to gather up

I don’t remember all of the words the coach said, but I do not remember a chastisement before or since that rivaled it. I do, however, remember every word of his closing remarks.

He looked over to me, lowered his voice, and asked me to please stand up and come there. As I stood there beside him, with everyone staring at me, I looked down and kicked a few pebbles around self consciously.

He started:

“If any of you players had one tenth of the commitment and drive of this young man right here, we’d be the best team in this country. We’d never lose a game. He wasn’t the best player in the league when this year started, but through hard work and commitment, he has become that very thing. I can’t remember how many afternoons we’ve stayed late to throw the ball around a little extra, or get a few more at bats, but there were quite a few. There is not a single one of you that has given even one extra minute of effort this entire year, and now today, you won’t even give the effort when your required to be here..”

“And now, last Monday, this young man gets injured and put on the shelf for a week. He could have sat at home all week eating Moon Pies, and drinking R.C. Cola, but no, he has been here at practice, everyday, from start to finish. He’s ran the laps right along beside you, when he didn’t have too. He’s helped clean up the mess he had no part in making, after all of you bolted as soon as the final whistle blew. And every time any coach is giving advice, he was right there listening. There isn’t one of you that would have done the same, not one, and that is the problem.”

He let that last word hang in the air for a very uncomfortable amount of time. I don’t know how long it actually was, but to me, at the risk of sounding cliché, it seemed like an eternity.

Finally, “You young men have a decision to make; mom’s and dad’s, you too. Are you going to spend your whole life accepting being mediocre, or are you going to strive to be all you can be? Parents, do you want your young men to be everything they can be, or do you want them to just squeak by? Because these decisions aren’t just about baseball, no, they are about life.

Another pause…

“Tonight, I want each of you young men to search your soul. Parents, I want you to help. I want you all to decide if you’re going to commit to being a winner, or if you don’t have it in you. There is no shame if you don’t. Some have it, some get it, some never do..”

Another pause as his steely pale blue eyes looked at every person on that field. For the first time I was glad to be standing where I was, out of that gaze..

He blew the final whistle…

“Daddy, you’re not paying attention to me,” I heard as I snapped back to the here and now.. I’m sorry sweetie, here comes another throw, are you ready???

The memory fades back into the recesses..

Skip forward to today.

All morning I’ve read and heard about the foregone conclusion that the democrats are going to take over the two houses of congress, and the liberal agenda is taking over.. The war in Iraq is a failure and 250% percent of the population is ready to leave tomorrow. Appeasement is the only answer to all of our world problems..

I shudder at the implications. And as I drive to lunch, I again start to think about what this means to me and mine. As before, thoughts rush in at blinding speed.

On the radio, a synopsis of the following story jolts me back to reality…

Bill Parcells idea of a perfect day in the off-season is to spend it inside some ratty boxing gym in North Jersey. “It’s a laboratory,” he says. “You get a real feel for human behavior under the strongest duress — under the threat of physical harm.” In this laboratory he has identified a phenomenon he calls the game quitter. Game quitters, he says, seem “as if they are trying to win, but really they’ve given up. They’ve just chosen a way out that’s not apparent to the naked eye. They are more concerned with public opinion than the end result.”

The connection in my mind is profound.

For years, I’ve wondered why some kids give 100% to become better at something, be it sports or spelling, or a hundred other such things, and why some participate, but don’t give their best effort.

I’ve also wondered what liberals could be thinking when they literally spew hate against America, and protest and tear down everything that makes this country great; When they lined up to spit at our returning patriots during the Vietnam era, when they run terrorist snuff films on our airwaves to affect sentiment in our current struggle, and a thousand such things we are bombarded with on a daily basis by the liberal media.

The answer is that they feel the same things we do, they want to do great things, they want to be the hero, they have just chosen that it is easier to give up, and are seeking the best way out that lets them put out the least amount of effort and still keep up appearances. It is so much easier to tear something down, than build it. They can also be heroes to the people who are cut from the same defective cloth as they, at a much easier outlay of effort and intelligence.

Kids are kids, and should be given a pass, but liberals…

This is a hard thing for 80% of us Americans to understand, and an even harder thing to explain. This epiphany makes it crystal clear to me, but going back and reading it, I think it fails to get across the profound implication it holds if the liberals get a hold of power.

I am no great fan of W, but I think that he was trying to get the same point across in his famous “hard work” debate with Jon Kerry. Remember he said “its hard work” about five or six hundred times while trying to describe the need to fight the war on terror. It just cannot be easily explained.

So it comes to that. Who do you want to hold the reign’s of power? Do you want the Dems who understand the fight, but choose to capitulate to the enemy because they are "Game Quitters"? Or do you want the party that understands the fight, and at one time fought it with the vigor that will be required to keep us all safe. But that now has backed off to try and keep power. That is the question. Had the Repubs simply kept their foot on the pedal, we wouldn’t be having this discussion..

For the safety of my precious ones, I know what lever I’ll be pulling..

Wuss of the Week II

I know the world is waiting with bated breath, so I’ll just cut right to the chase..

This week’s nominee for Wuss of the Week is….. Moderate Americans!!!

In your effort to “teach the republicans a lesson”, November 7th, 2006 will be known in history as the week America proved that they are now a bunch of pussies. By electing a party that picks the most liberal voting piece of human excrement as their leader, believing their lies that they will not vote to cut and run, moderate Americans put or brave military, and their Iraqi and Kurd allies, in more danger.

Hopefully, the slim majorities in both houses of congress will have a hard time getting anything done.

I, too, have a lot of things I dislike about the Republicans. But putting Nancy Freaking Pelosi in a position to wield ANY power AT ALL over our military and security, is a mistake we’ll all have to live with for a long time.

If this sounds like sour grapes to you, maybe it is. But it is also the truth.

Happy Birthday Marines/ Veterans Day

Nothing I could cobble together here could ever do justice, or come close to relaying the profound respect I hold for our armed forces, and our Marines..

Here is a story about true valor and heroism. Go read it all, but here is an excerpt..

"As long as we have Marines like Corporal Dunham, America will never fear for her liberty," Bush said Friday as he announced that Dunham would receive the award.

Your selfless act does you, your Corp, and your country proud Marine. May God keep and protect you, and your family.

Happy Birthday, and may God Bless the Marines. Semper Fidelis and HOOAHHH!!!!

And to all active and inactice service men and women out there, past and present. Me an mine say Thank you. Your service honors and protects us, and we are forever grateful! God Bless!

On Rumsfeld

As I sit here and digest the happenings of Tuesday, and the subsequent "resignation" of Donald Rumsfeld, I have been thinking of the job that Secretary Rumsfeld did for this country.

In short, he planned the advance on the Taliban in less than a month. The Taliban was removed from power in a little over 7 weeks.

He oversaw the advance on Iraq, after they refused to comply with UN mandated monitoring. They were toppled in a little over 3 weeks.

This was accomplished because Rumsfeld new the Armed Forces needed to change shape from a massive brute force, to a lightning quick force able to deploy anywhere on the planet in as quick a time as possible. This was swiftly accomplished. IF a Dem had appointed him, he would be the hero of the century.

The main mistake that Rumsfeld made was not the troop levels in Iraq, or any other such Bullshit that you hear from Libtards and the willing media, it was his belief that middle America would support the mission in Iraq as it is today. Late 2001 was the most patriotic time since WWII. But that sentiment melted faster that a snowball in hell. He underestimated the amount of politically "middle" America that has become cowards. It is that simple.

If this mission were to be allowed to go unto fruition, they would see that it is the very troop level needed to ensure a semblance of security in a place that has not had real secure freedom many times in its existence; The right size force to train a defending army, but at the same time, not put such a massive footprint on the Iraqi landscape that it breeds further instability in and of itself.

Have there been mistakes? Sure. Plenty to go around. But not a single liberal could have done better, and that is as close to a fact as you'll get in a hypothetical situation

What we are going to see now is that change for changes' sake is not always good. I pray that God favors the foolish.

Rumsfeld was the right man for the job on September 12, 2001, was he not??? If any of you libtards say otherwise, you are either a freaking liar, or subverting a man for the sake of political power.

Either way, I know you will look proud at yourself in the mirror. I also know that I could not, were I in your shoes..

Day of Truth

Trolling around the lib blogs and newspaper sites, (example) I pick up on 2 feelings. One is of giddiness, and the second is of foreboding. The latter is saying that if they don’t win, then free elections are a thing of the past, and that it is time to take it to the streets and riot against us vile conservatives..

I find this particularly amusing. The supporters of the party of tolerance and weapons bans, threatening violent action, against the evil right wing conspiracy. BWAAHAHAHA…

All I can say is bring it on libtards.. I wouldn’t mind seeing the authorities bitch slappin a few of you tree hugging, granola eating pansies upside your freaking heads.

If I lived in the big cities, I’d run over to the local police station and volunteer for the reserve auxiliary. That way I could participate in the libtard smackdown!!!

Throw in some bacon and beer, and that would be nirvana!!!

But alas, if they loose, all that will happen is a bunch of lawyers will delay the results for a few weeks, and the lefty blogs will piss and moan about Rove-BushHitler-Halliburton steeling the election. They’ll then return to smoking their weed, and singing “coom by yah”, while real men and women go on protecting their right to be retarded assholes.

Lastly, if a libtard you know starts talking about cheating, beat the over the head with the Missouri vote fraud cluebat found here. You can bet your bottom dollar that it is not an isolated incident.

So get the to the polls, and help keep these....these.... Ah hell, just vote...

Wuss of the Week

As a weekly feature of this blog, I will be handing out the Wuss of the Week award. Feel free to nominate someone you feel is worthy.

This week’s award winner is…. Finland!!!!

You can’t call an entire country a bunch of wussies you say. Well, maybe not every single person in that county, but the leaders are definitely a bunch of effeminate asswipes.

The European Union urged Iraq on Sunday not to carry out the death sentence passed on Iraq's former leader Saddam Hussein after his conviction for crimes against humanity.

"The EU opposes capital punishment in all cases and under all circumstances, and it should not be carried out in this case either," Finland, current holder of the rotating EU presidency, said in a statement.

Well, given that, I am wrong.. It doesn't happen often... : o )

This week’s Wuss of the Week is… The EU!!!!

If you can show me a bigger bunch of wimps & pussies on this planet, I’ll kiss your ass.

And before you say it, Democrats doesn’t count. They are all one and the same.. wEUssies and Wussocrats.

Spongebob Diplomacy

I don't recall where this item came from, but the "mate_e" clan has a Spongebob Squarepants alarm clock.. It alarms with a little annoying song featuring Spongebob, and the evil Plankton, the arch villian in the show.

For some reason, that song ran through my head yesterday, and it occurred to me that all of our foreign policy problems could be solved by taking this advice. Just have a little fun

In the song Spongebob is trying to convince Plankton that they can have fun together.

Here are the lyrics to the song:

Spongebob: It's not about winning, it's about fun!

Plankton: What's that?

Spongebob: Fun is when you...fun is...it' like...it's kinda...sorta like a...

What is fun?? HERE...Let me spell it for you!

Spongebob:

F is for Friends who do stuff together.

U is for You and me.

N is for Anywhere and anytime at all.

Sea Creatures:

Down here in the deep blue sea!

No, that is not the solution to our foreign problems, Plankton's idea of fun, however, might just be the ticket...

Plankton:

F is for Fire that burns down the whole town.

U is for URANIUM...BOMBS!

N is for No survivors (done as he holds aloft a defiant little fist)

arrr... That be the ticket. I personally guarantee that if one of the axis of evil were delt with in this f.u.n way, the others would crumble.

Who knew... Screw the whole department of State. All we need is a $19.95 plastic alarm clock to put the Arrrr. back in Arrrmerica!!!

Ultimate Home er.. Ship Defense Choice

Mossberg 500 w/ Knoxx Comp stock folder

The blogosphere is litered with post debating what the best home defense weapon is. Opinions are as plentiful as rectums I reccon, so one more shouldn't hurt eh...

Here's mine...

Arrr... Ain't she a beaut..

Right out of the box, she featured 7+1 three inch shells or 8+1 two and three-quarter inch shells. And as a bonus, it came with and EVIL, scarry looking anti finestein heat shield... Arrrrrrrr. It warms me old heart just looking at her. (the gun, not that wench fienstein)

After shooting a regular 2 3/4 inch #8 bird-shot load with the original cruiser handle that came on the Mossy, well lets just say that a call to Knoxx was made the very next day. I also added a pump that had a rail for add on goodies. All total: 225.00 for the NIB Mossburg, 95.00 for the Compstock, and 15.00 for the pump. All tolled, 330.00 for what in my opinion is the best home defense set-up for the money on this here planet. If you got better, I'd love to see it..

Knoxx offers 2 different recoil absorbing assemblies. The Cop stock, and the above pictured comp stock. I chose the comp stock for its compactness. Maneuvering in tight quarters is never a problem with the butt folded up as seen above. But if a long shot is required, the butt can be brought to action in about .5 seconds.

In this configuration, my wife can fire 3 inch magnum buckshot and slugs WITHOUT the need for the butt stock. The recoil absorption is that impressive. As a bonus, the loop of the flipped up butt stock frames a beautiful sight picture when brought up to eye level.

Also, I've heard from a buddy that Big Green (Remington to the uninitiated) has made a deal with Knoxx, and will feature them on several of their Turkey Magnums this year..

Arrrrr. It warms me old heart to see a small company make it big... Sniff Sniff..

Ahem.. Enough blubberin.. If ye wanna protect your ship, home, castle, whatever, you could do a lot worse that this set-up. The fun factor alone is worth the price of admission. The looks on the faces at the range after your have loosed 8 rounds of 3" magnum, in rapid succession, are worth twice the price. Lastly, watching an anti-gunner pee their pants at the sight of this EVIL looking incarnation, but then smiling with glee after firing it is priceless, but that is a post for another day..

NFL changes name of signal caller!!

Arrr. When the hell did the NFL change the name of the signal caller from quarterback to wussyback???

While watching the NFL Action today, I have seen no less than 4 personal fouls called for very questional hits on the "wussyback". Hell, on one, the defender actually missed the QB...er,I mean WB. I guess you can no longer look at the wussyback real hard without risking a 15 yarder.

Damn pathetic if you ask me!!

I wonder what the REAL field generals of old think about the rule changes towards the wussybacks of today??

Don't give me any lip about the money and size of the contracts involved either..

Maiden Voyage - Forewarning

Attention on deck.... The Captain is speaking...

Be warned, all ye that enter here. If ye be easily offended..Move along.

For those hearty enough, liberal bashing is permitted and encouraged; wussified male ragging is required, and anti-gun zealots are forced to walk the freaking plank...

As always, a tall frosty one is an absolute necessity.
